Jan 17- Community Resource and Wellness Family Night - Acton District HS/Halton                      Regional Police - 7PM to 9PM

Feb 6 - Winter Walk Day - Students are encouraged to walk to school.


Staffing Update:

We have learned that one of our teachers, Elizabeth Mitchell (SERT) has been elected as a Vice President with our local ETFO office. This will mean that her last day at Ethel Gardiner will be on February 9th, 2019. We will miss her initiative, leadership and advocacy for staff and students. We wish her well in her new role! Once a Grizzly, Always a Grizzly.

 

Kindergarten Registration:

Kindergarten registration for the 2019/20 school year is underway at the Halton District School Board! Registration forms are available at schools and on the HDSB website (www.hdsb.ca). Contact your home school to register your child by Feb. 1, 2019.

Packages are available for pick-up in the office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Girls Junior Volleyball:

Congratulations to our Junior Girls Volleyball team in finishing 3rd place at the Brookville tournament on January 9th. It was a whole team effort with every player doing their best. Coach Coach Marcoux is very proud, way to go Grizzlies!

 

Boys Junior Volleyball:

Shout out to the Junior Boys Volleyball team!  The boys played hard, smart and with Grizzly pride at the Brookville tournament on January 10th. The games were close and the boys never gave up. They are all pumped for their next tournament.

Ethel Gardiner receives a donation:

Ethel Gardiner P.S staff is sending out a big THANK YOU to Mr. and Mrs. Nolan for donating mittens to students in need at Ethel Gardiner P.S.

 

Community Resource and Wellness Family Night on January 17 - Save the date!

Acton District High School, in conjunction with Halton Regional Police Services will be hosting a Community Resource and Wellness Family Night on January 17, 2019, 7PM to 9PM.  This event is open to the entire Halton Hills community. See attached Flyer

Keynote speaker panel includes: ADAPT

Halton Regional Health

Halton Regional Police

Followed by Community Resource Carousel, Families for Families, ROCK/ROPS, COAST/MRT

Child Care will be provided for ages 2 and up.

 

Winter Walk Day is Wednesday February 6 2019:

Students across the province will celebrate on this day and throughout the entire month of February by going outside on their journey to and from school.

 

Parents for Children’s Mental Health - Georgetown Chapter

Are you caring for a child or youth with who is living with mental health challenges?

Support is available through a new Support Group being offered by Parents for Children’s Mental Health.

Winter Weather:

Please be sure students are dressing for the weather. Students are outside for up to 30 minutes at a time if the weather is warmer than -20 with windchill. Waterproof mittens are a great idea for playing in the snow and keeping fingers warm.. Boots and snow pants are also recommended!

Halton Hills Camera Club:

Halton Hills Camera Club is pleased to sponsor PhotoArt, an event held in Halton for over 39 years to raise awareness and promote photography.  Contest closes January 31st 11:59PM

The three competition categories are:

Children, ages 12 and under,

Youth, ages 13-16,

Adult, ages 17 and over.
